Principal’s Post

Dear FCC Families,

At Foundation Christian College, we are proud of our distinction in the community as an authentic Christ-centred Christian education College. Our mission is to see students flourish in faith, character, and learning, and this term has been another rich example of how God is at work among us. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or through community events, we are striving for learning excellence in all areas, underpinned by our commitment to Christ and His Word.

In Our Community

We began the term by hosting the Christian Education National (CEN) Symposium for WA CEN schools. Our College came alive with staff from Rehoboth Christian College, Geraldton Christian College, and Carnarvon Christian College joining together, united in Christ, for two full days of professional development. Every area of College life was enriched as our staff were upskilled across teaching, leadership, wellbeing, and community engagement. It was months of planning and teamwork, but also incredibly rewarding to see the fruit of those efforts in action.

We were also blessed to see our Father’s Day Stall come to life, lovingly organised by our amazing parents. It was a great success, and we thank everyone who contributed their time and effort to bless our students with such a joyful experience.

Our Family Evening Event was also a hit! Families and children came together on a Friday night to enjoy each other’s company, play board games, and take part in sports in the MPH. The engineering room was buzzing with creativity as kids (and parents!) built wooden planes, periscopes, and even a bird creature. And of course, the delicious beef and gravy rolls made the night extra special. We love our families and the way these moments strengthen our sense of belonging.

The Primary and Secondary Choirs also lit up our theatre with their recent performances to families. The harmonies were epic, the atmosphere was alive, and it was a wonderful celebration of the God-given gifts of our students and staff.

Another highlight was taking a group of our student leaders to the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, held at Crown with over 1,000 people in attendance. It was deeply encouraging to see so many national leaders openly professing their faith in Jesus and praying boldly over our nation. Moments like this remind us that our work in Christian education is part of something much larger — a movement of faith across our country.

We are also so grateful for your recent responses to our Strategic Plan Survey. Your feedback is shaping the reports and action plans now being prepared, ensuring that the next steps for FCC are prayerfully grounded in both God’s Word and the wisdom of our community.

In Our Classrooms

Our implementation of the Gradual Release of Responsibility continues to gain traction. Students and staff have built strong routines and are now expanding these practices across more learning areas. We are seeing this model applied in novel studies, where students engage deeply with texts, and in core knowledge units in history and science. These approaches provide structure, opportunities for differentiation, and pathways for extension, giving every student the chance to flourish. I look forward to sharing more stories of impact in future updates.

In Our Staffrooms

We’ve continued to expand our support team, with more education assistants supporting students across additional year levels. This growth is helping us to better meet diverse needs and strengthen a culture of inclusivity across the College.

To further build on this work, we are also engaging a Teaching and Learning Consultant who is working alongside our amazing staff to establish a strong upward rhythm in teaching and learning. This highly skilled consultant has worked with hundreds of schools across Australia, supporting best practice in differentiation, student engagement, and high-impact teaching strategies. Their expertise will help equip our educators to continue providing quality, Christ-centred learning experiences for all students.
