We would like to welcome Tony Fisher, Courtney Silverthorne and Catriona Nixon – our newest committee members. We asked them a few questions to get to know them a little better!

1. What is your current tole at your school and what does this involve?
Boarding Admissions Manage and Indigenous Liaison Coordinator

2. Why have you decided to join the Educate Plus WA Committee?
Networking and PL opportunities  and professional growth

3. What are some of your interests outside of work?
Travelling, boating, camping and family time

4. Who have been some of your great mentors in your life. 
My parents and grandparents

5. Favourite travel destination and why.
Spain hoping to walk more of the Camino

6. Best book ever read? 
So many … but recently Honeybee

7. Tell us one thing about yourself that many might not know. 
I’ve lived, farmed and taught in regional and rural WA for the past 27 years after heading to my first teaching posting.

Tony Fisher, Promotions & Publication Manager, Lake Joondalup Baptist College

1. What is your current tole at your school and what does this involve?
My title is ‘Promotions & Publications Manager’ – I manage all marketing for the College including Social Media, Paid advertising, Video Production, eNewsletters, Yearbook, digital marketing.

2. Why have you decided to join the Educate Plus WA Committee?
I have always loved the resources that Educate Plus provides. I came from a non-education marketing world so Educate Plus bridged the education/non-education gap for me (there was a wide gap a few years ago but it has recently narrowed a bit)

3. What are some of your interests outside of work?
I enjoy exercise, sport, photography and videography

4. Favourite travel destination and why.
Anywhere in South East Asia I love but mainly because it is quick to get to (I have travelled the world numerous times). I have been known to jump on a plane on Friday and return on a Monday!

5. Best book ever read? Anything by Neil Patel

6. Tell us one thing about yourself that many might not know.
I can buutt…..lets leave it out of my online bio please!? I came to Perth as a professional dancer and musician and performed at the (now) Crown theatre as part of a world tour. It was the last stop of the tour. I stayed on and have loved Perth ever since.

1. What is your current tole at your school and what does this involve?
Enrolment Manager. My role is responsible for all aspects and management /coordination of the enrolments process; the aim of the role is to ensure optimum levels of student enrolments. My passion is connecting with others and I am so lucky that I get to do this every day!

2. Why have you decided to join the Educate Plus WA Committee?
It is a fantastic way to connect with my colleagues from all different schools in Perth and beyond. It is such a special network of people and I don’t know of any other industry that collaborates in the same way.

3. What are some of your interests outside of work?
Travel, walks along the river, entertaining , interior design

4. Who have been some of your great mentors in your life. 
My mum

5. Favourite travel destination and why.
Scandanavia – I was lucky enough to go there for my honeymoon so I have lots of special memories. It was the perfect mix of design, outdoor activities and amazing food & drinks

6. Best book ever read? 
Too hard to pick but I am currently reading Ghosts by Dolly Atterton and Barack Obama’s the Promised Land

7. Tell us one thing about yourself that many might not know. 
I am terrified of the ocean
