New Leader Scholarship Recipient: David Formosa

The Educate Plus Empowering Success International Conference offered a wealth of insights, with my top three takeaways being:

  1. Building Authentic Relationships: Fostering genuine connections between institutions, alumni, donors, and students is essential. Personalisation, transparency, and open communication build trust, ensuring long-term engagement and support.
  2. Innovation in fundraising: With increasing competition, innovative approaches to fundraising were highlighted. Utilising data analytics, storytelling, and digital strategies such as social media campaigns and online giving days allows institutions to engage with their communities in new, impactful ways.
  3. Embracing change in education: The evolving landscape of education demands flexibility and adaptability. The Conference underscored the need for educational institutions to continuously adapt to meet the diverse needs of modern society.

Overall, the Conference reinforced the importance of staying agile in today’s fast-changing world. By leveraging relationships, embracing innovation, and responding to shifts in education, institutions can continue to achieve success.

Newcomer Scholarship Recipient: Emma Tyler

Having recently attended the Educate Plus Empowering Success International Conference, the first three actions I plan to implement post-Conference are:

  1. Be Prepared, Review and Revise: Following the incredible insight gained from the Crisis and Reputation Management session I will review and revise our Crisis Plan, to ensure I am prepared should a media story threaten to negatively impact our community or reputation.
  2. Understand Motivation: Nicole Bassett’s session really inspired me to focus on understanding each donor’s generational influences and individual motivation for giving. This will now form part of my donor strategy and provides invaluable insight as I embark on a new Capital Appeal.
  3. Advocacy in Admissions and Marketing: Margo Bastow’s session reinforced the importance of plotting the customer journey. I got so many ideas on how I could enhance that journey for our community. I will be using the Customer Journey cards from this session to work with my team and enhance our offering.
