When and where did your career in education begin?

My career in education began at Victoria University, where I led current and future student services across Admissions, Enrolments, fees, and graduations. I then moved to ACU and then onto RMIT, leading the Australia Recruitment team and overseeing major events such as Open Day.  These experiences strengthened my passion for student pathways, engagement, and service design. Coming from a background in marketing, stakeholder engagement, and organisational leadership, I was drawn to the sector’s purpose and impact. which ultimately led me to MACS to focus on system-wide enrolment, community engagement, and growth.

What interests you most in terms of your role?

I enjoy working at the intersection of data, strategy, and community. My role allows me to deeply understand families, schools, and local communities, and then translate those insights into practical system-level initiatives. I find it energising to shape projects that influence the future of 300 schools, while staying connected to what matters to parents and students.

What do you find the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part is supporting schools and families through periods of growth, change and opportunity. Whether it is strengthening enrolments, improving school visibility, or helping communities navigate transitions, I love being part of work that directly impacts students’ experiences and outcomes. Seeing confidence grow in Principals and communities because they feel supported and understood is incredibly fulfilling.

Who is your biggest role model in terms of leadership?

I do not tend to have a single role model. I prefer to draw on the strengths of many people – personal relatives, friends, colleagues, and leaders I have worked with over the years. Each has taught me something different about resilience, empathy, clarity and courage, and it is this blend that shapes how I lead.

What aspect of your role do you love the most?

I love the blend of long-term strategy and real-world engagement. One day I might be developing a system network plan or shaping Enrolment policy, and the next I am working closely with schools on Community Engagement, Marketing, or data insights. I am also fortunate to lead a team with deep expertise and genuine passion for supporting schools, and their commitment elevates everything we deliver. That combination of strategic work, hands-on impact and a strong, mission-driven team keeps me constantly learning and ensures the work has purpose at every level.

What are you currently doing that would be of interest to other members in Educate Plus?

I am working across several projects that help us better understand community needs, parent preferences, and future enrolment patterns. This includes improving the way we plan, refining enrolment processes and strengthening the tools schools use to engage families.

Describe yourself in 5 words:

  1. Strategic
  2. Collaborative
  3. Values-driven
  4. Innovative
  5. Community-focused

For anyone embarking on a role in community engagement, what advice would you give them?

Start by listening. Community engagement is built on trust, and trust comes from taking the time to understand people’s experiences, concerns and hopes. Focus on relationships, use insights to guide your decisions, and remember that authentic engagement creates the strongest foundation for growth.
