From the Chapter President

To our wonderful VIC/TAS Members …

As Semester 2 progresses, Victoria and Tasmania are experiencing an icy blast! This reminds me of Albert Camus’ quote: “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” It’s a reminder that summer will be here again before we know it!

No doubt, all of you are experiencing another massive term. Advancement Teams never stop; everyone I speak to is busy. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as we grow closer to the International Conference. VIC/TAS members should be proud, as we have the highest number of registrations across Australia!

I recently reviewed the much-anticipated Conference Program and eagerly selected the sessions I want to attend. Having attended these Conferences since 2006, I always walk away with great enthusiasm, exciting ideas, and a wealth of new knowledge. Never underestimate the connections you make at these Conferences; networking is key and offers an opportunity to connect and make new friends.

Good luck to all of those institutions who have sent through an Excellence Award submission. So many of you are doing incredible things within your institutions, and we can’t wait to share the amazing work you are doing. If you’re wondering which VIC/TAS institutions are in the running for an award, check out the Awards page

VIC/TAS Events

Don’t forget, the Committee continues to plan for Professional Development & Networking opportunities for after the Conference. Recently, we hosted our first People and Culture Event at Siena College, featuring guest speaker Steven Troeth from Gaden Lawyers. Steven shared his expertise on navigating EBAs, new HR laws, and time management. We also extend our thanks to our event sponsor, Anzuk Education, for their support.

Post the Conference, our Rob Blandford and Anna Beattie Tassie Committee members are eagerly planning the Tassie PD day in Launceston on Wednesday 25 September. To register CLICK HERE.

Remaining events for 2024 are:

  • PD Day (Tasmania) 17 October 2024
  • Alumni Event at Westbourne – (Date TBC)
  • AGM (Date TBC)

The VIC/TAS Chapter Partners, Blue Boat and Spectrum Analysis, and People & Culture PD Partner, Anzuk Education continue to support us in so many ways.  Look out for each of these wonderful organisations at the International Conference.

I look forward to catching up with you at the International Conference or any of our future events in Tassie or Victoria.
