QLD Chapter Launches the new People & Culture Stream

The QLD Chapter is delighted to announce the success of the inaugural launch of the new People and Culture stream. The event, which took place on 15 February 2024 saw over 60 delegates attend one of three SIG (Special Interest Group) sessions which were being held concurrently – People & Culture, Young Alumni and Marketing & Communications.

See below for the post-event summaries of each of the SIGs.

Session 1: People & Culture

The Queensland Chapter proudly hosted the inaugural event for the launch of a new People & Culture pillar for the Educate Plus. The event attracted the first gathering of human resources and compliance professionals with a familial session of introductions and sharing pressing issues in the industry.

Under the leadership of Ben Foley, Director, Legal and Assurance at St Peter’s Lutheran College in Indooroopilly, participants benefited from the collective wisdom and experiences shared.

This gathering not only marked the beginning of a significant new chapter for Educate Plus members but also reinforced the organisation’s commitment to fostering professional development, collaboration, and innovation across the educational sector.

Session 2: Young Alumni

At the SIG session dedicated to fostering relationships with Young Alumni, attendees engaged in lively discussions and exchanged innovative approaches to connect with recent graduates. Participants explored strategies to introduce current students to alumni programs, ease their transition into alumni status, and maintain their active involvement post-graduation.

The session showcased effective techniques for nurturing a robust network of past students, emphasising the importance of early engagement and ongoing communication.

Round table exchanges facilitated open dialogue, allowing each attendee to contribute unique insights and experiences.

Session 3: Marketing & Communications

In the Marketing and Comms SIG, we revisited the enduring debate between traditional and digital media, questioning the relevance of conventional channels for schools today. Participants generously shared insights and experiences from their respective institutions, contributing to a rich discussion on the evolving composition of our marketing strategies. Despite acknowledging the significant transformation in school marketing over the last decade, we emphasised the importance of engaging the leadership team in these changes to maintain a competitive edge.
