Tournament of the Minds: Double Honours Victory!
Tournament of the Minds (TOM) is a international problem-solving competition for secondary students. Designed to foster creative thinking, teamwork, and enterprise, TOM challenges teams to solve complex, open-ended problems across key discipline areas under strict time constraints.
We are thrilled to announce that two teams brought home second-place honours across two categories at this year’s finals!
Here is a look at the challenges our teams tackled:
- Language Literature: Teams were tasked with designing an original radio play series to compete with short-form social media feeds for youth attention. To win over station managers at 3TOM FM, they had to pitch and perform three 2-minute teaser episodes live – complete with sound effects, three main characters, and a seamless narrative arc.
- Social Sciences: Teams had to resolve a heated student council debate over a charity t-shirt fundraiser. They were required to map out a complete strategy to source, design, produce, and sell limited-edition shirts – balancing the drive to maximize charitable revenue against the complex economic, environmental, and ethical concern of fast fashion.
We are incredibly proud of our students for representing our school with such ingenuity, passion, and teamwork against some tough competition!
Congratulations to all who participated.
