St Patrick’s Day Mass ☘️

St Patrick’s Day Mass ☘️

On 18 March, a group of Year 9 Domremy students and Mrs Vengsarkar gathered at St. Mary’s Cathedral to experience a truly memorable St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Terence Brady and the homily given by Father Patrick Mara. He reminded us of the dramatic history of St Patrick who was captured by pirates at age 16 and enslaved, only to later return to Ireland, ready to forgive his captors and spread the Good News in Ireland. This led to the conversion of Irish people to Christianity. It is St Patrick’s deep sense of compassion and service that we continue to celebrate, a legacy that stretches all the way back to the 5th Century.

Domremy College shares its Irish roots with the Presentation sisters’ founder, Nano Nagle, who pioneered Catholic education in Ireland. Each year Domremy honours this important feast day in acknowledgement of a shared Irish heritage and culture. We felt grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Mass, to celebrate community, faith, and the enduring power of tradition.
