Speaking 4 the Planet
Domremy students joined schools across Canada Bay Council for this year’s Speaking 4 the Planet competition at Rosebank College.
Our girls were exposed to the innovative ideas of Dr Karl, a renowned environmentalist and scientist, who implored his knowledge on climate change to the group in the hopes that we, as future leaders, will utilise this information and make a positive change to our world. Dr Karl enlightened many students and teachers across our community on the staggering statistics climate change has imposed on our world, and most importantly, the ways we, as enablers of change, can improve our world.
Along with Dr Karl’s impressive insight, speakers included our local government representatives, Ms Stephanie Di Pasqua, Mr Jason Yat-Sen Li, and Ms Sally Sitou.
The organisers as well as student speakers, actors, artists, writers and helpers all came together to make the competition an enlightening experience that resulted in Domremy gold. Significant accomplishments including:
Our amazing Year 10 Drama group (Sarah, Addison, Olivia, Lucia, Maeve) won 1st place with a powerful performance
Kaya (Y8) wowed the judges and won 1st place in the Recycled Art category
Allanah (Y10) took out 3rd place in the Writing category
Well done to all of the girls who entered the competition last week. Speaking 4 the Planet 2025 was another successful event of group learning, environmental awareness, and fun for all who came.
