Literature Circles 

Year 8 English classes have been invited into the Study Hub to participate in Literature Circles. This has been a collaborative project between the Study Hub and the English Staff.

Literature Circles involve group reading and responses to selected texts.

To complement their study of the novel, ‘Mahtab’s Story,’ Year 8 have been engaged in Literature Circles based on the theme of ‘The refugee experience’.

Students have been exposed to short stories, poems and novels centred around this main topic. Activities include group discussion questions, research, written and extension activities. All activities are based around developing students’ higher order thinking skills.

Literature Circles are a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with texts and develop their understanding of the experiences of others within our community. It will also, we hope, encourage students to borrow from the Study Hub and increase the levels of reading for pleasure within this year group.
