From the Relieving Principal
Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Staff
I hope this finds you and your family well. For those families experiencing illness and hardship we will keep you in our prayers and I hope you take some comfort in knowing that people are thinking of you and praying for you. I was very pleased to receive the phone call from Sydney Catholic Schools asking whether I would be available to relieve as Principal at Domremy College while Mrs McGahan leads the study tour for the SCS Archbishop Pell Award recipients’ study tour to Rome and London. While my time as a full-time Principal was spent in the south-west of Sydney, my family has a connection to Domremy. My three sisters attended Domremy in the early to mid 1970’s, when students finished in Year 10 and there were a lot of nuns as teachers; they were certainly different times but life often brings us full circle

While I have only been here for a week, Domremy College is an impressive place – yes the heritage buildings and the grounds are impressive but it is the people that make a great school! The students are courteous, cooperative, eager to learn, work hard, participate well in sport and present themselves so professionally. It is obvious they are a credit to you, their families, to their school and to themselves. The staff are equally impressive with their demonstrated dedication and love of teaching, the hours they spend in marking and preparation and their commitment to provide an extensive range of opportunities for as many girls as possible to become involved and to display their talents and capabilities. I look forward to continuing my stay at Domremy for the next two weeks and hope that I’ll be able to assist as many staff and students that I can in this time.
This Sunday is the last Sunday of the Church Year, the Feast of Jesus Christ, our King. As we tend to do at year’s end, we reflect on the year that has passed. Are we better people now than a year ago? Are we more kind, considerate, gentle, honest, sacrificing and forgiving? Quite a challenge for all of us. At least if we give honour and allegiance to Jesus, our King, on this day, we can end our Church Year on a firm note of faith and love.
A Reflection
Noah’s Ark: Everything I need to know. I learned from Noah’s Ark.
ONE: Don’t miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When we get older, someone may ask you
to do something big.
FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs
to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on
board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you are stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was build by amateurs; the Titanic
by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there
is always a rainbow
waiting.
waiting. Most people walk in and out of your life.
But FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart.
May God bless
