10:10 Project – Year 10

10:10 Project – Year 10

On Wednesday 13 March, Year 10 participated in Session 2 of the 10:10 Project. This season was about Love. The girls participated in multiple activities and had a lot of discussion about the importance of love within their lives. They learnt about the different types of love such as: storge, eros, philia and agape and how each type is important in order to live a full life. The 4 aspects of love being:

  1. Attraction – recognising the good of another person; seeing the inner and outer beauty of another person
  2. Desire – wanting a good for yourself through desiring union with the one you have ‘fallen in love’ with
  3. Goodwill – willing the good of the other
  4. Spousal love – Giving yourself completely to the other person, the love between husband and wife

There was discussion about what the girls should look for in a partner and the importance of going beyond physical appearances but rather love those who are caring, loving and respectful on the inside. Looks will fade but the hope is that one’s love for self and others will remain the same. It is the qualities that an individual has that makes them attractive and the way that they treat one another that matters. The session really allowed the girls to really think about what type of people they want to surround themselves with as they get older not just in terms of a life partner but rather the love that they have towards their friends and family. It was great to see the girls actively and enthusiastically participate in this session and we look forward to seeing them participate in future 10:10 sessions!
