Knitting for those in need – Knitting Club is back!

Knitting for those in need – Knitting Club is back!

The Knitting Club has had a strong uptake having started again this Term, with students invited to knit and crochet scarves and beanies during lunchtime. These handmade items will be donated to Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, a not-for-profit hospital that provides care and support for people undergoing cancer treatment. We will also be making blankets for some of our furry friends in pet shelters.

As Mother Theresa once said, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Through this initiative, students have the opportunity to offer warmth and comfort to those facing difficult times, embodying the values of compassion and service.

📅 When: Lunchtimes, Wednesday and Friday, Term 2 and Term 3

📍 Where: Makerspace

Those new to knitting or crocheting will have the chance to learn from more experienced students.

The club appreciates all donations of wool 8 and 10ply and particularly crochet hooks of 4.5 up to 5.5.  We endeavour to provide necessary materials, including yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks to those girls who do not have them. Thank you to the many generous donations of supplies made already, all of which are greatly appreciated and are being put to good use!
