Message from Grant Andrews, Acting Head of Junior School

Dear Junior and Pre-school families,

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” Winston Churchill

It has been another exciting week at the Junior School, with co-curricular, instrumentalist lessons and sports training all kicking into action. I would like to personally acknowledge and thank all parents for the incredible organisation that goes on behind the scenes at home to support everything that happens on our School calendar. We are now in full swing with our programs across all cohorts and there is already much to celebrate.

Year 5 State Parliament Excursion
Our Year 5 students had a fantastic, albeit rainy day at the State Parliament this week, where they learned about the workings of government and democracy. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to see firsthand how decisions are made at the state level and also to engage with the civic processes that shape our community. A huge thank you to all the teachers who helped make this excursion such a success.

Year 6 Leaders Induction Assembly
We are so proud to have inducted our Year 6 Leaders this week during a special assembly. It was heartening to see our new student leaders stepping up and taking on responsibilities within the School community, and we look forward to the positive impact they will make throughout the year.

K-2 & New Parent Talk with Judith Locke
A warm thank you to Judith Locke for her insightful talk with our Kindertgarten and new parents today. The session was both informative and engaging, offering practical and valuable advice for parents on navigating the school journey. We hope everyone who attended found it as helpful as we did!

IPSHA Sport – First Round
Best of luck to all our teams participating in the first round of IPSHA sport this weekend. We are looking forward to seeing our students compete with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Cross Country – Friday, 21 February
A reminder that our much-anticipated Years 3-6 Cross Country event will be held next Friday, 21 February, on Dangar Oval. We anticipate a great day of friendly competition and team spirit. Please ensure students are prepared with the appropriate sports gear and have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen on the day. All parents of students in Years 3-6 are welcome to attend. Our House Leaders are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for their first major event of the year! They’ve been busy organising war cries, decorations, and more, ensuring it will be a fun and competitive event for all involved. We can’t wait to see all the enthusiasm and teamwork come to life.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead and looking forward to seeing you all at upcoming events.

Warm regards,

Grant Andrews
