Little League Summer Sport Reports Round 9

I am delighted to report on another successful round of sports at our school. Across all sports, I witnessed excellent effort and commitment from our students. It was heartening to see them participate with great vigour and demonstrate admirable sportsmanship throughout the day.

One particular highlight was the 6A basketball game, which came down to the wire and had a thrilling finish. The determination and teamwork displayed by both teams were impressive.

I’m also proud to share that our junior relay team competed at the NSW state championships last week. Their excellent commitment to training over the last few months was evident in the way they ran well in their heat. Unfortunately, they were disqualified on a technicality, but we want them to know how proud we are of their representation of our school.

I want to take this opportunity to remind our students that losing is valuable in its own right. It provides an opportunity to learn and improve, and it’s an essential part of the sports journey. Winning is important, but as we celebrate our victories, let’s not forget that there are always areas where we can grow and improve.

Yours in Sport,

Mr James Roughan

Sailing

Last weekend saw three of our Cranbrook Junior School sailors travel to Canberra for the ACT Optimist Class Championships. This was the first step for the season on the road to the national championships this coming January, and all the boys sailed well in very difficult light and variable winds. Balthazar R (yr5), Will H (yr5) and Marcus R(yr6) joined four Cranbrook senior school sailors in year 7 and 8 amongst the field of 63 competitors.

Congratulations to Balthazar R who finished 4th in the Intermediate fleet, while Will H and Marcus R finished 18th and 20th respectively in the open fleet having stepped up divisions in the past few months. The Cranbrook sailing team will now look forward to Sail Sydney on our home waters of Rose Bay in December.
