Little League Summer Sport Reports Round 10
Despite an ominous weather forecast, our Junior School athletes were fortunate to beat the weather odds and indulge in an exciting day of outdoor games this past weekend. The sunny skies provided the perfect backdrop for our enthusiastic young players to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.
Saturday morning saw Dangar Gym buzzing with energy as classic rivalries took centre stage. The atmosphere was electric, with students displaying unwavering determination and grit in the face of fierce competition. Hard-fought matches unfolded throughout the day, demonstrating the dedication and passion of our junior athletes. With two rounds to go we are excited to finish the 2023 Summer Sport Season in fine style.

Basketball Year 5/6 As
The 5/6 As faced Grammar Edgecliff and the game was called off at half-time with Cranbrook trailing 31-13. Grammar proved too strong with their full-court defence. The boys capitalized on the few opportunities they had with sharp shooting. The team is now focused on rebuilding as they prepare to take on Newington in the upcoming weekend.
Basketball Year 5/6 Bs
The 5/6 Bs secured a convincing 42-24 win against Grammar Edgecliff. Harry R and Aiden M were the top scorers, displaying great shooting and efficiency around the rim. Ollie H and Jake C controlled the game effectively, while Charlie R, Eddie N, and Sam S made significant contributions on the defensive end.
Basketball Year 5/6 Cs
The 5/6 Cs emerged victorious against Sydney Grammar with a close score of 23-20. Costa V had a standout performance, contributing 8 points in the first 5 minutes of the game, leading the team’s early offensive streak. Raph G dominated under the basket and in the post, supported by Rocco B’s excellent playmaking and ability to find open teammates. It was a great win for the team.
Basketball Year 5/6 Ds
The 5/6 Ds secured a win against Sydney Grammar with a score of 34-21. Rhidian S was the top point scorer, and Spike T carried the offensive momentum for the team. Spike T demonstrated his ability to score strongly contested layups, while Rhidian S consistently converted jump shots inside and outside the key.
Basketball Year 5/6 Es
The 5/6 Es faced Grammar Edgecliff and suffered a loss with a score of 27-34. Austin M was the top point scorer with 12 points, showcasing sharpshooting skills and determination to keep the game competitive. Help from Ziggy D, Elvis L, and Max C ensured that the team remained in the game, and Leo M-W and William T played pivotal roles on both ends of the court, contributing to a strong defensive effort when needed.
Basketball Year 5/6 Fs
The 5/6 Fs encountered Grammar Edgecliff and experienced a loss with a score of 20-30. Zac G was the top point scorer with 6 points, and Rhys A made significant offensive contributions. Carter M and Louie B displayed outstanding defensive and rebounding efforts, making it challenging for Grammar to score. The team’s intensity and aggression were commendable, despite the loss.
Basketball Year 5/6 Gs
The 5/6 Gs faced Grammar Edgecliff and suffered a close loss with a score of 14-16. Lachy C was the top point scorer with 4 points and delivered a great performance, displaying agility and scoring finesse. Leo C played a vital role in keeping the game close, with intense defence and the ability to stay in front of his opponents.
Basketball Year 5/6 Hs
The 5/6 Hs played Grammar Edgecliff and experienced a loss with a score of 14-24. Kyran D had a standout performance, scoring 6 points and showcasing relentless rebounding, using his height to his advantage. Jacob K had a strong game, starting slow but then becoming a defensive force by stealing the ball and intercepting passes whenever Grammar came down the court.
Basketball Year 3/4 As
The 3/4 As faced a tough challenge against Scots and suffered a loss with a score of 10-54. Frank T was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 8 points. Despite the result, Minato Y played a great game, influencing the match superbly with his relentless pursuit of the ball and rebounding efforts against the taller Scots players. The team faced a well-rehearsed opponent, but the boys are determined to bounce back.
Basketball Year 3/4 Bs
The 3/4 Bs encountered a strong Scots team and experienced a loss with a final score of 14-45. Woody V-H-W was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 4 points. In this game, Oliver S was called up and made a significant impact, showcasing his skills at a higher level. He contributed with 3 steals and a couple of assists, despite the opponent’s strength.
Basketball Year 3/4 Cs
The 3/4 Cs faced Scots Year 3 A’s and encountered a loss with a score of 9-33. Oliver S was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 4 points. Jamie S played a pivotal role, displaying excellent passing on offense and showing great defensive awareness and spacing.
Basketball Year 3/4 Ds
The 3/4 Ds played a close match but narrowly lost with a score of 17-19. Ned V was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 6 points. Liam S stood out with his excellent defensive skills, amassing numerous steals and displaying exceptional passing ability on offense.
Basketball Year 3/4 Blue 1
The 3/4 Blue 1 team faced Scots and suffered a loss with a score of 17-23. Will A was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 6 points. Aiden G’s great defensive work was a notable feature of the game.
Basketball Year 3/4 Blue 2
The 3/4 Blue 2 team secured a convincing win against Scots with a score of 36-5. Heiji C was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 8 points. Alfie L-B demonstrated great hustle and teamwork throughout the match.
Basketball Year 3/4 White 1
The 3/4 White 1 team faced Scots and experienced a loss with a score of 28-16. Nathaniel S W and Michael L both contributed 6 points. The team showed improvement in their defence during the second half, with strong shooting from Nathaniel S W and Michael L. Blake S W and Remi G displayed improved defensive efforts.
Basketball Year 3/4 White 2
The 3/4 White 2 team secured a resounding victory against Scots with a score of 36-5. Alex P was the top point scorer for Cranbrook with 16 points, while Archie S and James C each scored 6 points. Alex P delivered an outstanding all-around performance, and Archie S and James C displayed great shooting and passing skills, contributing to the team’s success.

Cricket 6 As
The 6A cricket team secured a win against Grammar St Ives, with a score of 6/188 (20) to 5/122 (20). Emile G was the top performer, scoring an impressive 60 runs, and Zachary S took 2 wickets. Charlie R contributed significantly with his 39 runs, demonstrating perfect running between the wickets and constructing a well-organized innings.

The 4A cricket team secured a win against Newington, winning by 6/103 to 7/97. Sebastian R delivered an outstanding performance with 1-4 off 2 overs and scoring 20 runs. Freddie F also impressed with his performance, taking 1-3 off two overs. Sebastian R showcased his skills in fielding, batting, and bowling, while Alexander R contributed 15 runs with the bat. The team’s collective effort resulted in a great performance, and they should be proud of their achievements.
Cricket 4Bs
The 4B cricket team achieved a 23-run victory against Trinity. Lucas S was the top performer with 20 runs, and Freddie H bowled a double-wicket maiden. Hadley S deserves recognition for his all-round performance, particularly his fielding and rapid reaction when the ball came his way in the field.
Cricket 3As
The 3A cricket team faced Grammar St Ives and suffered a loss with a score of 4/64 against 6/142. The top performers were Harry P, who took the most wickets, and Nathan S, who scored the most runs. Harry P stood out as an excellent opening bowler, managing to hit the stumps twice during the game.
Cricket 3Bs
The 3B cricket team encountered Sydney Grammar St Ives and experienced a loss with a score of 7/111 against 6/78. The top performers included Sam Y, who scored 26 runs, and Will S, who claimed 2/14 off two overs. Both Sam Y and Will S made significant contributions to the team’s performance.
Cricket 3Cs
The 3C cricket team faced Sydney Grammar St Ives and experienced a loss with a score of 3/118 against 0/95. The top performers were Kai and Rafael K, both scoring 21 runs. Rafael K also displayed his bowling skills by taking 1/2 off 1 over. Rafael K had an all-around performance, excelling with both bat and ball.













Multi-Sports
The Multi-sports squad started the season in a positive manner. This term we are concentrating on throwing and catching skills. Ted W, Yanni A and Lucas Z took 3 classic catches during our sessions in week1. A fantastic game on Dangar oval in Rd 1 culminating in Henry M scoring the winning runs for his side.
Tennis
Tennis Bs
The Tennis Bs faced Scots in a highly competitive match, resulting in a 6-6 draw in matches and a score of 32-36 in games. The top performer for Cranbrook was Miles M, who won 9 games. Notably, the Cranbrook Tennis B team was shorthanded due to illness, requiring Ashton D and Matthew Z to play in positions higher than their usual. Both Ashton and Matthew played two extra matches, displaying their enthusiasm and determination, with Ashton achieving significant success by winning his singles match 3-2 and narrowly losing in their doubles match 3-4. Their willingness to take on additional matches exemplifies the spirit of Cranbrook students.
Tennis Cs
The Cs squad had an incredible match against Trinity, despite starting down by two sets due to a missing player. The team fought relentlessly for every point. A standout performance by Blake H and George Y, who secured a 6-1 win in their doubles as the first pair, brought the teams to a tie. In the singles matches, with the score tied at 14-14, George Y, Jansen J, and Joshua L all triumphed with 5-0 wins, displaying performances reminiscent of a prime Roger Federer. Hugo C-B and Josh M exhibited remarkable determination, and both earned 3-2 wins to maintain Cranbrook’s lead. Despite the initial setback, the Cs squad won 39-29, showcasing the incredible effort put forth by the boys.
Tennis Development
In the Tennis Development group, the boys had a great session. Rory M emerged as the winner of the development group tournament, demonstrating outstanding determination and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Rory and the rest of the boys for their remarkable performances.
Water Polo
In Water Polo, the team faced Knox in a challenging match, resulting in a 14-6 loss. However, it’s worth highlighting the significant improvement this team has shown. The top performer of the game was Thomas A. Notably, Thomas A and Henry W displayed excellent defensive skills and also managed to contribute by scoring goals for the team. The team’s progress and development are evident in their continued efforts on both ends of the pool.
