Information for K-Y6 Parents about Progress Reports & End of Semester Reports

Over the next week, our K-Y6 students will bring home their schoolbooks from Term 1 to share their learning with you.

End-of-Unit Progress Reports

This year, we have introduced a ‘Progress Report’ for all subjects, so our families will receive a more timely update on their child’s progress and development. There will be one of these progress reports for most units taught throughout the year.

For English, Maths and units of inquiry, these reports will be glued into students’ books at the end of each unit. Mid next term, our specialist teachers will send progress reports for their subject areas. Please sign all these progress reports, so we know you have had an opportunity to read them.

These ‘Progress Reports’ will have a description of the unit completed, along with the central idea and the lines of inquiry that have shaped the unit’s development.

In Kindergarten, the report will give an indication of the level of the students’ knowledge, skills and work habits specifically taught within the relevant unit and whether the student needed guidance to complete tasks or displayed mastery independently.

For students in Years 1-6, the report will give an indication of the level of the students’ knowledge, skills and work habits specifically taught within the unit and whether the student required guidance or support to consistently and independently meet unit expectations or if they displayed mastery beyond their year level.

If parents have not had a catch-up call with their child’s teacher in the last fortnight of this term, there will be an opportunity to touch base with them during the first few weeks of Term 2. Further information about how these dialogues will be organised, will be sent out shortly.

End-of-Semester Reports

There will still be a report at the end of each semester, but these will be adapted to reflect that some information has already been shared through the unit progress reports.

The Kindergarten end-of-semester report will give a global picture of your child’s progress over the semester and include indications of how frequently his work habits are being displayed independently.

Our Years 1-6 end-of-semester report will give a global picture of your child’s progress in all subjects over the semester. The reports will indicate at what level he is showing secure mastery of the relevant outcomes, concepts, content and skills taught. An indication of how frequently he independently applies the pertinent year level work habits will also be included.
