{"id":22474,"date":"2026-09-17T09:41:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T23:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/ssc\/?post_type=article&#038;p=22474"},"modified":"2026-09-17T09:41:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T23:41:28","slug":"year-4-prayer-and-mission-team-celebrating-the-season-of-creation","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/ssc\/article\/year-4-prayer-and-mission-team-celebrating-the-season-of-creation\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 4 Prayer and Mission Team: celebrating the Season of Creation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our Year 4 Prayer and Mission Team recently led a whole-school prayer to mark the beginning of the Season of Creation, a special time in the Church calendar when Christians around the world are invited to pray, reflect and take action to care for God&#8217;s creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is celebrated each year on 1 September and begins the Season of Creation, which continues until 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. The 2026 theme, &#8216;Living Water&#8217;, reminds us that water is a precious gift from God and an essential source of life for all living things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the prayer celebration, students reflected on the beauty of God&#8217;s creation and how we can be responsible stewards of our common home. The Prayer and Mission Team encouraged everyone to think about simple actions that can make a difference, such as saving water, reducing waste, recycling, caring for local wildlife and giving thanks to God for the gift of creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caring for creation at home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Families can help care for our common home by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>turning off the tap while brushing teeth and keeping showers short<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>switching off lights and devices when they are not being used<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>using reusable drink bottles and lunch containers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reducing food waste and recycling correctly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planting flowers, herbs or vegetables at home<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>walking, riding a bike or using public transport when possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>taking time to thank God for the gift of creation through prayer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A family challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, as a family, consider one simple action you can take to care for our common home. It might be a shorter-shower challenge, a lights-off hour, planting something together or having a no-food-waste day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A prayer for creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Dear God,<\/em><br><em>Thank you for our wonderful world.<\/em><br><em>Thank you for the bright sun, the tall trees, the blue oceans, and all the animals.<\/em><br><em>Help us to be good helpers who take care of the plants, water, and creatures.<\/em><br><em>Show us how to keep the Earth clean and beautiful.<\/em><br><em>Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Year 4 Prayer and Mission Team thanks all students and staff for participating so thoughtfully in our prayer celebration and encourages everyone to continue caring for God&#8217;s creation through small everyday actions.
