On Friday 14 August, our Santa Sabina VEX IQ Robotics teams travelled to Loreto Kirribilli to compete in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition alongside students from Shore School, Reddam House and St Catherine\u2019s School. This year’s challenge,\u00a0Level Up<\/em>, required teams to design, build, program and operate a robot capable of navigating a complex field featuring obstacles and multi-level goals. Students demonstrated their engineering and problem-solving skills throughout the day, while also documenting their design process in an engineering notebook and participating in interviews with judges to explain the thinking behind their creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition tested much more than technical ability. Teams were required to collaborate with students from other schools, adapt their strategies, and work together under pressure to achieve the best possible results. Through this process, our students showcased outstanding communication, teamwork and resilience, embodying the values of respectful competition and innovation.
<\/strong>
Santa Sabina enjoyed an exceptionally successful day, with all four of our teams qualifying for the final rounds of competition and one team achieving an impressive third-place overall finish. Each team was also recognised for its unique strengths, earning the Judges Award, Build Award, Think Award and Design Award respectively. These awards celebrate excellence across a range of areas, including teamwork, robot construction, problem-solving, innovation and the application of the engineering design process.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We congratulate all participating students on their outstanding achievements and commend them for a fantastic day of collaboration, critical and creative thinking, perseverance and sportsmanship. Their enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to embrace new challenges were evident throughout the event, and they represented Santa Sabina with great pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
