This week, Year 6 students participated in an exciting lesson on impromptu speeches. They were given a surprise topic and challenged to brainstorm ideas within a short time limit. Once their preparation time was up, students spoke confidently to a partner for one minute, sharing their thoughts and opinions. The activity encouraged quick thinking, clear communication, and active listening skills. Students enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the challenge and embraced the opportunity to think on their feet. It was a fun, engaging lesson that helped build confidence in public speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In STEM, the Year 6 students have commenced an investigation into how digital systems help us reach the stars!<\/em> – The exploration of space using Digital Technology. They are looking into how a digital system isn’t just a computer. It’s a combination of hardware, software, and data that people (users) interact with. As a springboard to their inquiry, they looked at how a digital system works, specifically a telescope. They discovered that the telescope first captures starlight (input). The computer then turns light into code (processing). The data is then saved to a drive (storage). And finally how the Scientists view the image (output).<\/p>\n\n\n\n For their first inquiry they worked in pairs to investigate digital systems used for space exploration, including the Mars Rover<\/em>, the James Webb Space Telescope<\/em> and NASA Space Probes<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ms<\/strong> Marisa Maks, Mr Eamonn Dunphy, Ms Ann Milicic, Ms Georgia Wheatley, Ms Rebecca Seidman<\/strong> LIFE EDUCATION \u2013 HEALTHY HAROLD Year 6 recently participated in a Life Education \u2013 Healthy Harold session focusing on the topic \u2018Decisions\u2019.
