The children made connections between the models they examined and the real objects used in the celebration of the Eucharist. They asked thoughtful questions and made perceptive connections to their own experiences of the Mass and family celebrations. These learning experiences have helped them understand the significance of the Eucharist in the Catholic faith tradition.

The recent celebration of St Dominic’s Day held special meaning for the students as they learned about St Dominic as a little boy. Using dolls made by the Kopanang Dominican project in South Africa, they engaged with the story of his childhood, education and love of God throughout his life. The children were excited to identify symbols from our College crest that were part of the story and continue to hold significance for us today. Most importantly, they connected with Dominic as a child, like themselves, who learned, played with his brothers and loved his family.

Ms Margie Attard, Ms Calista Camarda and Ms Lorette Quinlan and Ms Grace Azzi
Year 1 Teachers

The Celebration of the Eucharist and the Story of St Dominic Year 1 Religious Education Year 1 students have been learning about the parts of the mass in our RE unit Celebrating Mass.
