This special day promotes friendship, kindness, respect and understanding, encouraging students to help create a more inclusive and connected school community. Throughout the fortnight, students across Prep to Year 4 participated in a variety of age-appropriate activities that explored the qualities of a good friend, the importance of kindness and inclusion, and ways to build positive relationships. Through stories, discussions and collaborative learning experiences, students developed their understanding of empathy, active listening and respectful communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
International Friendship Day reminds us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. By reaching out to others, including those around us and choosing to be a good friend each day, we can help ensure every student feels connected, supported and valued within our school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thinking caps were on and the room filled with concentration yesterday as a number of students from Year 3 to Year 6 sat the Australian Maths Competition (AMC). Introduced in Australia in 1978, the AMC is an internationally recognised competition that consists of 30 questions, with problems increasing in difficulty throughout the paper. This structure allows all students to experience success while also providing extension and challenge for highly capable mathematicians. It was wonderful to see students approach the competition with confidence, concentration and a positive mindset, readily embracing the challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The challenges continued this week, with many students also completing the third paper in the Maths Explorer, Maths Games and Maths Olympiad programs. We congratulate these students on their resilience, perseverance and growing problem-solving skills as they tackle increasingly complex mathematical tasks. These enrichment programs encourage students to think creatively, apply a range of strategies and develop confidence in their mathematical reasoning. We wish them every success as they prepare for their final competition paper in Week 8 and look forward to celebrating their achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Results are in for the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) Competition, Upper Primary Division and we are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our students. Many participants received Distinction and Credit Awards, placing them among the top 15% and top 50% of the competition cohort respectively. These outstanding results reflect the students’ strong problem-solving abilities, perseverance and enthusiasm for learning.
