Year 7 is preparing for their Keyboard Performance Assessment, building confidence in melody, harmony and performance etiquette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have also begun their new topic, Music of a Culture, currently focusing on Japanese Music, exploring traditional instruments, pentatonic scales and the rich sound world of Taiko, Koto and Shakuhachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students are enjoying discovering how cultural identity is expressed through musical traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 8 has begun their exciting new topic, Film Music, analysing how composers use musical themes to shape character, mood and narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are now developing the skills to compose their own Leitmotif for a chosen character, due in Week 9. This unit encourages creativity, storytelling and thoughtful musical design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 9 has started their study of Baroque, Classical and Romantic Music, exploring how musical style evolved across these major eras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are preparing for their Musicology Assessment in Week 8, strengthening their understanding of the concepts of music and developing analytical listening skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 10 has begun their new topic, Music for Multimedia, investigating how soundtracks enhance visual media through atmosphere, pacing and thematic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later this term, as part of the new Stage 5 syllabus, students will begin their Elective Project, to be presented in Weeks 9 and 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will also present a Class Recital in Week 9, showcasing their developing performance skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 11 IB students are preparing their 2nd Exploring Music in Context Assessment, presenting a recording of their Performance Adaptation and continuing to refine earlier work from Tasks 1 and 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will also perform in their IB Recital on Friday 21 August, sharing their developing artistry and interpretive skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 11 HSC students are preparing for their Preliminary Examination in Weeks 8 and 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
HSC Music students will sit their written exams on Monday 7 September and Thursday 10 September, and will perform in the HSC Recitals on Friday 4 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Year 12 HSC students have begun their Trial Examinations and are presenting their Full Program for their final internal assessment on 17 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We wish them every success as they complete this important milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will present their program again for their Final Public Recital on Friday 4 September, a wonderful celebration of their dedication and musical growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
