Developing job\u2011application skills, such as writing a cover letter and recording a short video r\u00e9sum\u00e9, is an essential skill for students in today’s\u00a0ever changing\u00a0recruitment world. In Commerce, students were required to draw on their creative and critical thinking skills to write a cover letter and film\u00a0a short video explaining why they are the best candidate for an employment role they had selected. This real world and relevant task required students to ‘use digital literacy’ and ‘present information in a creative, informative, and persuasive way’, helping them develop confidence, professionalism and adaptability. These transferable skills will support them in future employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This task really helped me understand what employers look for and gave me the confidence to talk about my strengths. Recording the video r\u00e9sum\u00e9 pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it taught me how to use eye contact and clear communication. I feel much more prepared to apply for real jobs.<\/em>
