Year 7 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our Year 7 musicians have been enthusiastically preparing their repertoire for the upcoming Gala Concert. They are learning Instruments of Peace<\/em>, Welcome to All People<\/em> and Let Love Rule<\/em>, singing with growing confidence and unity. It will be truly special to hear these works performed in a massed choir at the Town Hall on 23 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 8 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Year 8 students have successfully completed their Guitar Performance assessment task. Their preparation, resilience and pride in performing for an audience were evident, and they should be commended for their commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have now begun their unit on Rock Music, exploring how the Blues shaped the development of rock and discovering the many genres that sit within the broader rock tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our Year 9 cohort demonstrated pleasing creativity and technical understanding in their Ground Bass composition tasks. They are now preparing for their upcoming performance workshops, including rehearsals with their accompanist. Alongside this, they continue to strengthen their aural skills and deepen their understanding of the Concepts of Music.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 10 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Year 10 students have completed their Performance Assessment Task, presenting well\u2011prepared solo works supported by thoughtful rehearsal with their accompanist. Their diligence and musical growth were clearly reflected in their performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 11 HSC and IB<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Year 11 HSC Music students have now submitted their Composition Assessment Tasks, demonstrating their developing compositional voice and understanding of musical structure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 11 IB Music students have been working closely with composition tutor Charlotte Leamon, experimenting with musical ideas inspired by their chosen stimulus. They have now submitted their first experimentation task as part of their portfolio. We are also looking forward to their upcoming workshop with Andrew Howes, where students will explore how a piece of music can be created in just 45 minutes \u2013 an inspiring challenge that always sparks creativity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 12 HSC
<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday 17 and 24 May, our Year 12 HSC Music 1, Music 2 and Extension students participated in intensive performance workshops in preparation for their second assessment. This task was assessed by external HSC markers, giving students valuable insight and feedback ahead of their final examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We look forward to hearing their full recital programs next term.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ex\u2011Student Spotlight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted to welcome back Angela Kim, an ex\u2011student who has returned to the Music Department as a practicum teacher. It is wonderful to see former students continuing their journey in music education and contributing to the learning of our current cohorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
