PreLit \u2013 listening for syllables<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
This week in PreLit, we focused on\u00a0syllables. Students learned that to work out how many syllables are in a word, we say the word slowly and listen carefully for the parts we can hear. Each part represents one syllable, and stretching out the word helps us notice where it can be broken apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The children enjoyed clapping, tapping and even jumping the syllables in familiar words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story time and craft \u2013\u00a0Too Many Pears!<\/em>\u00a0by Jackie French<\/h3>\n\n\n\nWe loved reading the book\u00a0Too Many Pears!<\/em>\u00a0by Jackie French. After enjoying the story, the students created their own pears using craft materials. They worked in\u00a0pairs, practising how to share glue sticks, take turns and communicate kindly with one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThis activity supported both creativity\u00a0and\u00a0cooperative learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
