We were overwhelmed with the response of over 60 entries, and thank everyone who entered, for bringing life to the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A big thank you to Mary Shoard, Angela Bunquin and Allana Hempenstall who took the time during the busiest time of the year to judge the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winners in each category won a $25 Dymocks gift voucher and were presented with a Certificate. Runners up received a bundle of literary gifts as well as a Certificate. We also had two special prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All award winners will have their work published in our 2026 Writing and Poetry Anthology.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gioia House&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winner: Lydia Wang&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Runner up: Emma Cooper<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Years 7-8&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winner: Deeksha Kandimalla&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Runner Up: Maya Santiago&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Years 9-11<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Winner: Gabrielle Karakatsanis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Runner Up: Chloe De Cruz Maundrell&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The Photographs&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The photographs on the shelf groaned with age,<\/em><br><em>their frames chipped, glass clouded with dust.<\/em><br><em>I brushed a finger across one <\/em>\u2013<br><em>and a smile looked back, trapped behind the years.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The wind crept through the hallway,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>on its late morning stroll.<\/em><br><em>The photographs whispered softly,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>calling to anyone who might still remember.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Each face a window to a story once told-<\/em><br><em>a birthday cake, a seaside laugh,<\/em><br><em>a child holding her mother\u2019s hand.<\/em><br><em>They spoke in silence,<\/em><br><em>their voices fading with the dust.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Time hurried past them,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>blurring their edges,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>but in the centre of the decay<\/em><br><em>one photograph gleamed,<\/em><br><em>a woman\u2019s eyes still alive with light.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>And for a heartbeat,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>the room breathed life.&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>The air shimmered with laughter long gone,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>the dust turned golden in the sun,&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>and every forgotten face-<\/em><br><em>seemed to lift its gaze,<\/em><br><em>remembered at flames,<\/em><br><em>Bright blazing bush first spoke his hallowed name,<\/em><br><em>\u201cMoses, Moses!\u201d \u201cOn holy ground, you stand\u201d<\/em><br><em>Upon himself, Moses takes righteous hand,<\/em><br><em>And they follow through parted waters on untouched sand<\/em><br><em>And by God&#8217;s will writes ten commands<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Crucified, died, and was buried to give us everlasting life,<\/em><br><em>The good lord in unwavering faith was crossed to end our strife,<\/em><br><em>We wear this symbol broadcast and place it,<\/em><br><em>In churches, homes and halls of hallows, holy ground, we see his face<\/em><br><em>Forever moulded carved wood or stone remains his dying grace<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Now what&#8217;s left is whispered prayers awaiting our messiah,<\/em><br><em>Across the heavens, stars hold wishes for a power so much higher,<\/em><br><em>The Bible which sings hymns of praise,<\/em><br><em>The evangelical scriptures sing one which phrase<\/em><br><em>\u201cFor where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them\u201d<\/em><br><em>And where we all gather in common ground we become the notes that strung them,<\/em><br><em>Forsaken words in which thy truth live devout,<\/em><br><em>In Christian community, we listen for faith is blind and only the faithless doubt&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>So leave behind selfish woes and material things tainted thoughts do pose,<\/em><br><em>And have trust and live in God&#8217;s plan<\/em><br><em>Have mercy on a world in which the devil is so much stronger than a man<\/em><br><em>And rest worries and world-wearied flesh,<\/em><br><em>For in God&#8217;s kingdom lives are renewed afresh,<\/em><br><em>Mortality abolished in the eternity of our souls&#8217;
