Year 7 students had the opportunity for hands-on learning thanks to Sydney\u00a0Zoo’s visit to the Santa Sabina College Campus. They had the opportunity to handle feathers from ostriches and emus and feel the texture of shedded skins from snakes and lizards, as well as turtle scales. In learning about how these various body coverings allow scientists to classify vertebrate animals with common characteristics, this launched a new topic of learning for the term. The real excitement swelled in meeting Spike the Spiny Leaf Insect, Loki the Magnificent Tree Frog and Fettuccine the Children’s Python. Overall it was a highly engaging opportunity for all.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
