{"id":4145,"date":"2023-05-24T14:30:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T04:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/spc-townsville\/?post_type=article&#038;p=4145"},"modified":"2023-05-26T16:17:56","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T06:17:56","slug":"from-the-depity-principal-academic","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/spc-townsville\/article\/from-the-depity-principal-academic\/","title":{"rendered":"FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL &#8211; ACADEMIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we near the end of Week 6, Term 2 has been filled with many events already and much positivity from our students.\u00a0 The year is certainly flying by, as we have passed the halfway mark in another term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2024 SUBJECT SELECTION EVENINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2269 size-thumbnail alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/Headshots-7887-320x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/Headshots-7887-320x320.jpg 320w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/Headshots-7887-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">A friendly reminder that information regarding 2024 Subject Information Evenings was sent to parents.\u00a0 These evenings allow parents and students to find out information about choosing subjects for 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The 2024 Subject Selection Evenings will be held on the following dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday, 6 June 2023 \u2013 Year 7 into Year 8, 2024 (5.30pm in the Auditorium)<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, 14 June 2023 \u2013 Year 9 into Year 10, 2024 (5.30pm in the Auditorium)<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, 14 June 2023 \u2013 Year 10 into Year 11, 2024 (6pm in the Auditorium)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These events are compulsory for students in these year levels and students must attend in their College academic uniform with a fully charged laptop.<\/p>\n<p>To assist in the subject selection process, students in the year levels listed above were involved in Subject Selection Assemblies in Weeks 4 and 5 to learn about the possible subject options for 2024. Curriculum Leaders presented present this information to ensure students are aware of subject offerings and possible pathways linked to specific subjects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUCCESS INTEGRATED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Success Integrated worked with the College in Term 1 presenting to all year levels at the College with the following sessions:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Year 7 \u2013 S.T.E.P Up to Success<\/li>\n<li>Year 8 and 9 \u2013 Power to Persist<\/li>\n<li>Year 10 and 11 \u2013 Study Skills for Success \u2013 Part A<\/li>\n<li>Year 12 \u2013 Study Skills for Success \u2013 Part B<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A parent\/guardian session was also held focusing on Parenting Strategies for Teenage Success.
