Our String Ensemble joined with the Liturgy Choir for a performance of <em>In Flanders Fields<\/em> and we featured our Brass Trio who accompanied Kenya Mari and the Liturgy Choir for an emotional rendition of <em>Amazing Grace<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/spc-townsville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0088-320x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0088-320x320.jpg 320w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0088-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2883\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/spc-townsville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0075-320x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0075-320x320.jpg 320w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2021\/05\/DSC_0075-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All classroom music classes are diving into new repertoire and developing their theoretical understanding through performance and ensemble work.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Year 7 are looking at inverting pentatonic melody in pairs.<\/li>\n<li>Year 8 are learning that notes have personalities and want to go their own way.<\/li>\n<li>Year 9 are investigating dance music through the genres of the waltz and Electronic Dance Music (EDM).<\/li>\n<li>Year 10 are composing songs to perform to the Grade 1 classes, whilst developing their sense of the functional harmony used in Jazz and Art Music.<\/li>\n<li>Year 11 and 12s are both composing in a range of genres from film music, orchestral processionals, and Jazz Standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our Ensembles are busy preparing for our first combined ensemble musical showcase, <em>Music by the Sea<\/em>, scheduled for later this term. Families of performers will be invited to an afternoon of music in our College Auditorium.
