This year\u2019s camps will be held at the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Year 7 \u2013 Camp Kanga \u2013 Proserpine<\/li>\n<li>Year 8 \u2013 Wambiana Station \u2013 Charters Towers<\/li>\n<li>Year 9 \u2013 Mungalli Outdoor Education Centre \u2013 Milla Milla<\/li>\n<li>Year 10 \u2013 Genazzano Retreat \u2013 Tinaroo<\/li>\n<li>Year 11 \u2013 2-day Retreat held in Townsville and Paluma Outdoor Adventure Centre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This program is <strong>compulsory<\/strong> and all students are expected to attend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You would have received information specific to your daughter\u2019s camp this week. To approve your daughter\u2019s participation please review the Terms &amp; Conditions document and her medical details then accept the excursion. Responses are <strong>due by 08 May 2021<\/strong>. If you require assistance logging on the Learning Hub Parent Lounge, please contact IT Support on <a href=\"mailto:itsupport@stpatscollege.qld.edu.au\">itsupport@stpatscollege.qld.edu.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are many benefits to taking part in School Camps and Retreats, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Peer bonding<\/strong> &#8211; School camps provide the perfect opportunity for students to experience positive interactions with each other outside of the classroom. Fun activities, team sports and teamwork challenges both help develop new relationships and deepen existing bonds of friendship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Being physically active<\/strong> &#8211; The health benefits of exercise among children is well\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthdirect.gov.au\/benefits-of-physical-activity-for-children\"><strong>researched<\/strong><\/a>, and school camps often focus on physical activity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Screen-free time &#8211; <\/strong>Technology has become integral to the learning journey for today\u2019s learner, but researchers warn of the dangers of overexposure in a child\u2019s development. School camps allow for compulsory breaks from access to screens, bringing them back down to earth and present in their surroundings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New experiences &#8211; <\/strong>Camps provide students with a variety of unique experiences that the student may not otherwise enjoy. School camps are often cherished memories for students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spending time in nature &#8211; <\/strong>The rural environments that most of these retreats take place in helps to refresh the students\u2019 minds.
