Patience and Jorja had the opportunity to remotely operate a 64m Parkes radio telescope to observe pulsars and analyse the data they collected to learn more about Astrological anomalies. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1906\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/spc-townsville\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/06\/Parkes-NFC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"957\" height=\"574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/06\/Parkes-NFC.jpg 957w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/06\/Parkes-NFC-768x461.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/06\/Parkes-NFC-250x150.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 957px) 100vw, 957px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ABOVE: The CSIRO Parks Radio Telescope<\/p>\n<p>During the session they also had the opportunity to discuss astronomy and science careers with astronomers and educators alike. When asked about the experience both participants agreed that it was interesting, but very involved. \u201cWhile I don\u2019t think I will pursue a career in astronomy, it was a good experience to learn more about pulsars from experts in the field,\u201d Patience said.
