Young Black & Proud Scholarships (YBPS)

The YBPS program supports and celebrates the talents and strengths of young Indigenous people who exhibit outstanding promise in areas of arts, education and training, or sports. We are very excited to announce that out of over 500 applicants from across Australia, two of our students have been selected. Congratulations to Year 9 student, Flora Nona and Year 7 Student Lilly Trevor.

Debating News

Our two junior and two Year 7 and Year 8 debate teams successfully progressed to round 2 of debating. Our girls confidently argued that there should not be a tax on sugar and fat and that music should be compulsory for all students. Three of these teams have made it through to the quarter finals to be held early next month. Congratulations to all students who spoke confidently and we wish these students all the best as they move forward.

AIME Mentoring

This week our girls were introduced to AIME (Australian, Indigenous Mentoring Experience) and yesterday a group of girls from Years 7 – 12 chose to find out more about the program during a Mentoring Experience Day held here at the College. Girls who nominate to be a part of the Program will have the opportunity for free academic tutoring, workshops and transition support for girls moving from school to university. We are grateful to CQUniversity who are generously funding the cost of the Program to allow our girls to access this great opportunity.
