A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The End of Term 1

As we come to the end of an eventful and joyful Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished and express my gratitude and appreciation to our College community. Whether it was through academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or simply doing their best each day, every student has played a role in making this term a success.

With so many events in our action-packed calendar, it is impossible to mention everything, but I would like to acknowledge the following which made Term 1 such a successful one:

  • The College hosted its first Careers Expo, allowing our students to network with over 20 local organisations regarding study and career opportunities.
  • The Interschool Swim team won their first A-Schools Interschool Swimming Carnival since 2008, winning by more than 30 points – despite racing from Lane 8.
  • Facilitated by our incredible Arts teachers, the College hosted a week-long Festival of the Arts event. Throughout the week, students were able to attend various workshops, discussions, and activities related to Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Arts. This unique event was supported by industry Arts specialists, such as TheatreiNQ and Dance North.
  • We opened our gates to prospective families for our annual Twilight Open Evening. Not only did the campus grounds and facilities look incredible, the pride, joy and genuine love that the staff and students have for our College was apparent to all who attended. From the wonderful performances and delicious food, to stunning displays and informative tours, the evening gave visitors a deep sense of how incredible St Patrick’s College Townsville is.

More of our staff achievements will be shared with you in Term 2. We look forward to celebrating the ongoing efforts of our expert teachers, who continue to support our students by providing exceptional teaching and learning experiences each and every day.

Throughout Term 1 we were fortunate to welcome a few new staff members including Regina Foster, Indigenous Student Liaison Officer, Sam Lowry, Head of Sport & Fitness, and Carlie Pearce, HPE Teacher. We’ve also had to say goodbye to two long-standing employees, Melissa Cowan, who has been with the College for 4.5 years as Personal Assistant to the Deputy Principal – Academic, and Karrin Dooley, who has been with the College for 9 years in various roles. We thank these ladies for their dedicated service to St Pat’s, and wish them every success with their future endeavours.

To our hardworking and dedicated students, thank you for your commitment, perseverance and determination to your education and for constantly striving to achieve your goals.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for your unwavering support and for entrusting the College with the well-being and education of your children. Your partnership and involvement in our College community is invaluable.

To our talented and committed staff, thank you for your passion, expertise and tireless efforts to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for our students. Your dedication and commitment to excellence is truly inspiring.

I would like to wish our students and their families a happy and holy Easter break and may God shower you with blessings, love, joy and peace.
