Great news – after a successful trial of audio books in Term 2, we are pleased to announce that access to audio books continues, providing students with an ever-growing collection provided by Wheelers, updated regularly.  Access is via our ebook platform https://stpatscollegetownsville.wheelers.co/ with students’ school email address and the password:  library1.

Our Catalogue Search Station is now up and running.  The Station provides students with easy access to the Library’s catalogue, and also includes links to external sources such as Townsville Regional Libraries, the State Library of Queensland and James Cook University, to name a few.  I would like to encourage students to liaise with library staff on searching the catalogue in order to learn how to use it effectively to identify and locate their information needs.

Our P.A.G.E.S.’ members will be busy this term with book recommendations and a range of themed displays, activities and competitions in which I would like to strongly encourage students to participate.  Currently on display is a selection of our graphic novels which are a great alternative read for all age groups, covering a range of topics and themes.  Students completing the quiz will be rewarded! There’s always something happening in the library so be sure to visit regularly and get involved.

Book of the Week – Amulet: The Cloud Searchers

The Cloud Searchers (No. 3 in the Amulet Series)

This week’s feature book is a graphic novel. Kazu Kibuishi’s enchanting series about two ordinary children on a life-or-death mission continues!

In the third installment of the thrilling Amulet series, Emily, Navin, and their crew of resistance fighters charter an airship and set off in search of the lost city of Cielis, which is believed to be located on an island high above the clouds. The mysterious Leon Redbeard is their guide, and there’s a surprising new addition to the crew: the Elf King’s son, Trellis. But is he ally or enemy? And will Emily ever be able to trust the voice of the Amulet?

The College Library holds the entire Amulet series, available for loan to all staff and students.
