FROM THE DEAN OF FAITH & MISSION

“We stand before an empty tomb.

The stone is rolled away.

Cloths from our Lord are on the floor.

Jesus is gone.

He is risen.

Risen from death.

Risen to life.

Risen from darkness.

Risen to light.

He is the light which drives out the darkness.

He is the dawn which expels all sadness

He is the Sun which lights the world.

He is the flame which burns in us.

This Easter season

He lives for us and brings us much joy and new life!”

As we reflect on the excitement of the Term, we take time to look forward to the most important week in our Church’s year, Holy Week.  It is the week when we remember the events leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection.

We are called to stop, to reflect, and to take time to be still and quiet.

Who was this Jesus? Who was the Son of God?

A man of prayer and reflection.

A man of forgiveness and mercy.

A man of liberty and freedom.

A man of justice and compassion.

A man who enjoyed life!

Mercy Girls in Action – Caritas Project Compassion

The Launch of Caritas 2023 was held at Gilroy Santa Maria College in February. Ms Rebecca Langford and our Community Service Prefects, Madaya and Sarah along with our Faith & Mission Prefect, Grace travelled to Ingham to be part of this very special occasion.

Throughout the term our Mercy Girls in Action have been involved in the following fundraisers:-

  • Purple Ponytails for Project Compassion
  • Caritas Queen of the Court

During this time we have raised approximately $1000 for CARITAS. Thank you to our Mercy Girls for leading these initiatives and once again serving others.

McAuley Ministry

As part of our McAuley Ministry Program, Grace Burbidge has been leading some of our students through the Lenten Program. Thank you Grace!

In term two we look forward to introducing the ALPHA Program to our McAuley Ministry team. This is a program which focusses on developing the faith of our young ladies.

Finally, congratulations to Bonnie Hughes, Grace Burbidge, Adelaide Burke and Jade de Lange for completing training on becoming Extraordinary Ministers. We are so very proud of you all and we extend our appreciation to Sr. Helen Mary for leading us through this program.

As we approach the Easter season I wish all our families and friends many Easter Blessings. Happy holidays to you all!
