Vinnies Sleepout

On the evening of Friday 11 October, 17 students volunteered to experience a little bit of discomfort in order to gain some understanding of what an estimated 116,000 Australians go through when they sleep rough, couch surf or settle in for the night feeling insecure in temporary accommodation. The girls reflected on the loneliness and the absence of basic needs such as clean, dry clothing and bedding, eating when you are hungry and feeling safe. All things that we take for granted.

Every one of us is called to work for justice for our most vulnerable, so that all can flourish. We are challenged to consider how we can continue to live the works of mercy by treating the most vulnerable in our community with compassion.

A special thanks to Ms Veukiso, Ms Martens and the Vinnies Youth Representatives for leading this important experience.

THRONES House Mass

Last week Thrones House hosted a beautiful Mass at St Josephs Church on The Strand.

TOGETHER WE PRAY

We thank you for food; we remember the hungry.

We thank you for health; we remember the sick.

We thank you for loved ones; we remember the friendless.

May these remembrances prompt us to service, that your gifts to us be of help to others.

 Amen.
