Kayla Bowen – Artwork Publication

Congratulations to Year 11 student Kayla Bowen whose illustrations have been published in a new children’s book, The Little Homie Book- The Alphabet that Changed the World. The book showcases important people and Kayla chose Albert Namatjira for the significant role he played in raising the profile of Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists in Australia

Wearable Art Fashion Show – Strand Ephemera

The end of Strand Ephemera was signalled by a Block Party and included an exciting fashion show hosted by Wearable Art Creatives Australia. Five girls from St Patrick’s College modelled outfits made by students and Ms Costopoulos for last year’s Wearable Art Townsville.  Year 11 student Erin Chin made and modelled her own outfit which was a complex and involved piece. It was very exciting to showcase this work in this public forum and bystanders were blown away as the parade of 30 models paraded down The Strand! The girls were very patient over the course of a very long day with rehearsals starting at 9am and the show running at 8pm. We are very proud of the way they represented the College and of their professionalism throughout the process. Well done to the girls involved in making the outfits – Emma Kris, Taylor Davies, Brittany Akiba and Erin Chin. A thank you also to Gwendoline Daniel, Shaniqua Ahmat, Bryher and Clarise Foster for modelling and helpers on the day Patricia Mabo, Tabie Sagigi and Jermia Nona.
