Ashley Fell, Director of Advisory at <a href=\"https:\/\/mccrindle.com.au\/\"><strong>McCrindle<\/strong><\/a> presented a thought provoking keynote about the Future of Work and Education. Some interesting findings from McCrindle\u2019s research include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>65% of primary school kids today will work in jobs that do not exist yet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A school leaver will have 18 jobs across six careers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI fluency is an important survival skill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The future workforce in Generation Z \u2014 defined as people born from 1997 to 2012 \u2014 are much more purpose-driven than previous generations however finding purpose with so many options is challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the options generation, with unlimited pathways. But we do them no favours to set them up with endless opportunities with no purpose.\u201d&nbsp;&#8211; <em>Mark McCrindle<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where careers education, experiences and meaningful conversations can greatly assist students in the self-discovery and exploration process. With much information for this generation sourced through TikTok and social media, it is essential that information is critically discerned and verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Generation Z\u2019s top desires for careers include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>72% want purpose and meaning in their work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>68% want work to align with their core values<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>65% want a workplace that is a community of strong social connections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>64% want the work they do to have a positive impact on the world around them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>64% want workplace flexibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With work making up such a significant proportion of our lives, it is encouraging to see research that supports Generation Z\u2019s focus on making positive contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter what students study and in what industry, there are core transferable skills which all employers seek.
