{"id":24502,"date":"2025-03-11T14:09:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T03:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/shore-weekly-record\/?post_type=article&#038;p=24502"},"modified":"2025-03-13T09:23:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T22:23:26","slug":"swimming-report-5","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/shore-weekly-record\/article\/swimming-report-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Swimming Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Friday 7 March 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GPS 3 \u2013 Shore Swim Team<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday 7 March, the Swim Team headed to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) for GPS 3 and a hotly contested evening of swimming as the number of point-scoring events considerably increased from GPS 1 and 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heading into the evening, Shore was ranked 1st for the Open Relay, and 2nd across all Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories \u2014 a remarkable start to our season and one the team hoped to build upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opens 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing from tremendous victories in the Open Relays from GPS 1 and 2, the team of <strong>James Bestic<\/strong>, <strong>Ethan Ng<\/strong>, <strong>Noah McLaren<\/strong> and <strong>William Bestic<\/strong> lined up for the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay. James opened proceedings with a national qualifying time going 24.88, handing over to Ethan who split a 24.69 \u2013 his fastest ever \u2013 who gave it to Noah who got incredibly close to a sub-24 swim, splitting 24.05, with William jumping into the water with a commanding lead over The Scots College (Scots) and Newington College (Newington) and swimming a blistering 23.98 anchor leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This team broke the previous GPS record in a time of 1:37.60, a sensational performance and a time which \u2014 outside of Shore\u2019s team next year \u2014 will be incredibly difficult to break. This record could stand for a long time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junior \/ Intermediate \/ Senior \u2013 400m Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up was the 400m Freestyle where <strong>Harrison Ayer<\/strong> placed 1st for Juniors, <strong>Oliver Kelly<\/strong> 2nd in the Intermediate division and <strong>Ethan Cook <\/strong>3rd in Seniors, putting up great swims to come away with a significant amount of points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shore achieves THREE new GPS Records!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an absolute privilege to be writing this. At GPS 3, Shore broke three GPS records! In addition to the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay we also achieved the following results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Intermediate 4 x 50m Medley Relay<br><\/strong>The remarkable team of <strong>Jonty Jagger<\/strong> (Backstroke \u2013 28.79), <strong>Sam Chan<\/strong> (Breaststroke \u2013 34.01), <strong>William Bestic<\/strong> (Butterfly \u2013 25.32) and <strong>Noah McLaren<\/strong> (Freestyle \u2013 24.18) broke the record by over a second to set a new time of 1:52.30.
