Last week, Year 10 Drama students had the honour of performing original pieces of Children\u2019s Theatre to a captive audience of Year 3 boys from the Shore Preparatory School. Children\u2019s Theatre is a unique art form that requires a detailed understanding of its style, structure and form and a heightened awareness of the dynamics of a children\u2019s audience. Students explored techniques such as audience participation, the use of humour, plot structure and physical characterisation and also incorporated performance skills such as clowning, puppetry and song. These Children\u2019s Theatre performances have also served as a lovely Shore tradition that has occurred for years, with current members of the Year 10 cohort fondly remembering their own experiences as Year 3 audience members watching Children\u2019s Theatre performances from members of the Class of 2017. No doubt this year\u2019s Year 10 Drama cohort\u2019s entertaining and engaging performances have inspired some budding Year 3 thespians \u2013 well done boys!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
