Snowsports Invitation 2025

Snowsports Invitation 2025

The 2025 Snowsports Season promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience for those who are passionate about Skiing and Snowboarding. After an outstanding season of success from newcomers and experienced racers last year, we invite all new families to join the Shore Snowsports Team this year and we greatly look forward to the return of experienced athletes. The school remains abuzz from last year’s National Championship success stories and podium results. Let’s get out there and get racing!!!

Snowsports fosters a wonderful family-oriented enjoyment of Alpine environments, with events in downhill skiing and snowboarding, skier and snowboard cross and slopestyle, ski and snowboard slopestyle and cross-country skiing in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, suitable for skiers and boarders of all standards.

The staff and I are eagerly anticipating a bumper season. With events at Thredbo, Perisher and Mt Buller we are excited to see our athletes racing on a variety of courses across our beautiful Alpine settings!

Info Night

The Info Night is an evening event for families to learn more about Snowsports at Shore, the Interschools Competition and the registration process. There is also the opportunity to meet with parents who are experienced with the Sport.

Info night is scheduled for next Tuesday, 8 April in the Playfair Hall. While I will be there in person, I will offer this meeting as an online Teams meeting and you can attend from the comfort of your home or other venue. Please add this meeting link to your calendar.

STOP PRESS: Duncan Cowan (OB ’24) on the World Stage

Shore Snowsports 2024 Captain and Shore Honour Award recipient Duncan Cowan has been competing and dominating in the current Northern Hemisphere season across Canada and the USA. He is now in Europe, ready to take on the best they can offer and has been selected to represent Australia in the upcoming Junior World Championships.

From Snow Australia:

The rising ski cross star and 2024 Youth Winter Olympic Games flagbearer scored back-to-back-to-back victories in Steamboat this week to keep his perfect season going.

Cowan won a pair of SX Nor-Am Cup events in Canada in December, and backed that up with a pair of Nor-Am wins on Monday and Tuesday.

Another FIS race win on Wednesday makes it five wins from five starts this season

And:

A pair of Winter Youth Olympians will fly the Australian flag when the Ski Cross Junior World Championships gets underway in France later this week.Gangwon 2024 flagbearer Duncan Cowan will be joined by Dakota Turner in the event to be staged at the Isola 2000 resort in the southern French Alps.

Cowan, 18, has won five out of six races contested in the Nor-Am Cup this season, and holds an unassailable lead on the season standings. He will take out the Nor-Am Cup for 2024-25 despite missing the last two races while he competes in France this week.

The Sydney-sider combined with Turner for 14th place in the Ski Cross Team event at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Korea, an event they will again contest together this weekend.” (Source)
