Shore AFL’s Exhibition Match at Northbridge Against Scots College

J. A. T. Collier

Last Saturday morning, Shore AFL’s first XVIII side played in an exhibition match on the Shore A ground against Scots College. This match was very important for the boys as it was the first time they would be playing Scots and after going undefeated in the season, the team were keen to put their skills to the test against a side that consisted of mostly Year 12 students.

It was a memorable day for Shore AFL as it was the farewell game of the current Year 12s and they were kind enough to play in the middle of their HSC Trial Exams. This was also the first time the AFL team played at Northbridge this season and it was a great day.

The game was an absolute thriller with both sides playing exceptionally well and it made for a very tight contest. Unfortunately, the Scots team came away with the win, however the Shore team played impressively and all the Year 11s of the team look forward to playing the team next year if they enter the GPS competition.

It was a real privilege for the boys to play on Northbridge A ground. It capped off an outstanding season which resulted in winning the division 2 premiership. A big thank you once again to all the boys who came out and supported the players as it was much appreciated.

The Shore AFL program has come a long way this season with the inaugural AFL Dinner recently taking place at the Emery room. It was an honour for the boys to have Dr Collier and Dr Gilmour in attendance at that dinner alongside the amazing coaching team and supportive parents. The boys really enjoyed themselves and it was a great finish to the season.

Well done to all the Shore AFL teams this year for an amazing season. It is promising to see how far AFL has come this year at Shore.
