Is the iPad the new Computer

A Portable and Minimalist Future

In the beginning, Apple had 3 main products: the iPad, the computer and the iPhone/iPod. Back then, these products had nothing to do with one another besides the fact that they all had the same logo on the back. But nowadays these products have more in common than ever before. 

With Apple quite recently releasing the magic keyboard to go with their iPad this device now almost looks like a computer!  From the apps to the ‘add-on’s’, the iPad has now not only become a computer look alike, but its software – like google accessibility and the fact you can now connect a mac mini to it (making it a pc) – is making it much more suitable for our everyday needs. 

I was watching a YouTuber the other day by the name of ‘Canoopsy’ and he was saying that, as a full-time Youtuber, more recently it has been so much easier to pick up his iPad to edit videos instead of a computer. Also, something I did not mention earlier was the Apple pencil. This small piece of technology, in my opinion, makes the iPad a bit better than the computer. The fact that you can turn your iPad from a writing device into a drawing device just shows how portable and adjustable this iPad can get; and the latest iPad Pro is where everything changes.  

In the latest update to the iPad Pro, Apple integrated the same top-notch camera they include on the iPhone 13, and not only that but they also stuck the M1 Chip from the MacBook Pro into it. This means that you get the best of both worlds all in one device.  

But that begs the question, what next for the iPad? Well for me I think that this device will not only become the new computer but something that is used in almost everyone on the planet’s everyday life. In the next few years, the iPad will become something that people bring to work instead of using it to watch Netflix at home. 

But, this is not an original idea since companies such as Windows have already come up with detachable keyboards and styluses, which in my opinion makes Windows a much better company when it comes to their ‘iPad’. But who knows, maybe Apple will adapt to today’s more portable and minimalist society. 

This is how the Apple iPad is becoming the new Apple computer.
