Golden Boots 2025
Thursday 11 September
The Golden Boots Competition was started by the Shore Old Boys Riverina group in the mid-1990s to promote public speaking amongst Shore Boarders.
Boarders from all four Houses, dressed in full uniform, assembled in the Dining Hall last Thursday, to witness the 2025 Golden Boots competition; where the Year 12s supervise, the Year 11s compete to be chosen to represent their House and the Year 10s help to serve and clear dinner.
Guests included Bruce Allworth (’79), the senior adjudicator and OBU Riverina group Treasurer, Derek Champion (’96), adjudicator and Deputy Head, Pastoral Care, the families of the four speakers and several members of the OBU Executive.
The topic was: Confucius stated, “Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues”.
The speakers were, in order of the speeches:
- Tom G, Barry House
- Tully R, Hodges House
- Aleksander B, School House
- George S, Robson House
The speeches were enjoyed by everyone as all four speakers spoke confidently, thoughtfully and with flair. But alas, there could only be one runner-up and one winner.
Our congratulations to all four speakers – you did your Houses and the OBU proud. A special congrats to the runner-up, George S and the winner, Tully R.
Mr Ian Macdonald
President, Shore OBU
