Dr Roslyn Arnold Notice

Many students and staff members at Shore between 2009 and 2020 will be saddened to hear of the recent death in London of Dr Roslyn Arnold. After a distinguished academic career, she came to Shore as a consultant for the new Writing for Thinking Program in 2009 and advised numerous teachers across a wide range of subject areas on the best ways to improve the writing skills of the boys they were teaching. She was also keen in her own time to see boys with a flair for writing and assisted many of them to develop their talents.

Wise, warm and patient, she had an uncanny ability to grasp in minutes the essentials of writing in a subject with which she was unfamiliar, and to devise methods of communicating them more effectively. She leaves behind a daughter and two grandchildren in London, with whom she was able to spend her final months.
