Chaplain’s Update
We are living in a world that is seemingly more in a state of flux than ever before. We hear competing voices all wanting to be heard and speaking louder than the next voice to make their point. Overseas, there are issues with countries fighting each other and we are not immune to the economic effects of these world events. Closer to home, while we have all experienced rain and wet weather this year, some in our Shore Community have directly experienced floods which have affected livelihoods, homes and of course families. While these things are happening, all of us will typically face uncertainties in our day to day lives. So often there are times when we crave security and certainty.
This term in Chapel we are looking at famous Christian people. C.S. Lewis was one such man who became a Christian and used his immense intellect and writing prowess to write about the Christian faith. His classic Narnia series has sold more than 100 million copies. Lewis would often write about the deep matters of Christianity and yet he would write knowing the certainty of Jesus Christ and the way Christianity gives us an understanding of the world in which we live. It is a certainty because of the certainty of God. It is another great reminder for us that despite the uncertainties that we will all face in life, we can trust in one certainty, which is the person of Jesus Christ and what he has done for us.
