Increasingly, we are hearing that our students will be employed in jobs in the future that may not have even been invented or thought of yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Educators, school reformers, colleges, universities, employers and others have been using the term <\/span>21<\/b>st<\/b> century skills <\/b>for some time now to<\/span> refer to a broad set of transferable knowledge, skills, work habits and character traits that are believed to be critically important to success in today\u2019s world, particularly in university programs and contemporary careers and workplaces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What we offer<\/span><\/h4>\n

At St Ursula\u2019s, we have a number of supplementary programs to support students in developing these 21st century skills:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Year 7 students participate in <\/span>L@unch (Learning @ Ursula\u2019s Nurturing Challenge), <\/b>our transition to secondary school program. They learn new ICT skills, how to use feedback and how to develop their study and organisational skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • In Year 7 and Year 8 are involved in <\/span>Rock8t<\/b>, which helps students develop numeracy skills and apply their mathematical understanding to real-world problems.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • In Year 9, <\/span>Girls9Unite <\/b>focuses on literacy skills and examines the importance of literacy for girls in the developing world.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • In Year 10, careers and community service are the focus of <\/span>ACT10n<\/b>, where teachers work with our students to develop knowledge and skills in the area of subject selection for the HSC and understanding future career paths, as well as serving the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These important programs equip our students with the skills needed to be lifelong learners who are able to face future challenges with confidence,<\/span><\/p>\n
