Juniors unite to help those in need at Christmas

For many people, Christmas is a joyful time of year. However, the sad reality is that 13.3% of Australians are living in poverty. Of these, 731,000 are children who may not get their Christmas wishes.

This term, inspired by our Ursuline charism, we aimed to develop an understanding of social justice issues and heighten our sensitivity and awareness to the needs of others living in situations of poverty.

As a community, we gave practical support by supporting the St Vincent De Paul Society and the One Meal initiative:

  • Each homeroom from Year 7 to 9 worked with our local chapter of the St Vincent De Paul Society to donate items for Christmas Hampers
  • Year 10 and 11 worked with One Meal, donating and packing Blessing Bags for people accessing their services.

Thank you for your generosity and support for this wonderful initiative. You have all made such a positive impact on the lives of people living with poverty and disadvantage.

Angela Merici stated: “We must give alms. Charity wins souls and draws them to virtue.”

Through your support, many of these individuals and families suffering from poverty will be able to have the Christmas they deserve; a Christmas filled with hope and joy.

Wishing you love, peace and happiness that the true meaning of Christmas brings.

God bless,
