Profile: Get to know Sienna Williams

Community involvement

During her time at St Ursula’s, new College Captain Sienna Williams has been passionately involved in plenty of College and co-curricular activities, seeing them as opportunities to create friendships with girls from all grades and be involved in the College community. An active member of the St Ursula’s community, Sienna loves the College’s unified and supportive environment and how it pushes her to do her best and give everything a go.

“St Ursula’s offers so many opportunities for extra-curricular activities, that allow everyone to get involved. During my time so far at the College, I have had the opportunity to get involved in many extra-curricular activities including social justice initiatives such as One Meal and Caritas fundraisers, CGSSA sports including touch football and volleyball, the Kids Cancer Project’s Write a Book in a Day Competition, mock trial and public speaking,” she says.

Providing a voice for all

When it comes to leadership and her new role in the Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT), Sienna wants to use the opportunity to be a positive force and represent the whole College.

“Leadership is really important to me in providing an opportunity for me to speak up and help others use their voice and share their opinions,” she says.

Sienna believes that, after a year of disruption, it is important for the SSLT to help galvanise the community and unite them through a range of fun and useful initiatives.

“I am hoping as a part of this team, that I am able to encourage everyone within the community to endeavour to be supportive, kind and respectful to one another, and extend these qualities into the wider community through outreach programs.

“As a member of the SSLT team in 2021, I would like to ensure everyone has the opportunities to contribute to ideas and proposals of the Leadership Team and ensure that everyone is encouraged and feels supported to be able to get involved in a range of extra-curricular activities,” she says.

Words of advice for schoolmates

After a year of challenges and uncertainty, where so much was learnt from the inspiring actions and positive attitudes of a resilient group of Year 12 students, Sienna has some advice to offer to St Ursula’s students as she and her classmates begin their own Year 12 journey. In particular, she has words of advice for the new Year 7 students joining the school – those whose shoes she was in not so long ago.

“Get involved in any opportunity that presents itself, whether this be sport or debating or public speaking or social justice initiatives, you will not regret it. Give everything you do your best and enjoy your journey through high school, time will fly by!” Sienna shares.

As for her fellow classmates, Sienna shares some wise words as they head into their important final year at the College.

“Put everything into perspective, every single one of you is more than capable of achieving anything you put your mind to! Work hard, don’t stress and take the time to enjoy our last year!,” she advises.
